MThe Import File dialog box is where you choose a file to import. TThe Imported Graphic Scaling dialog box scales imported graphics files. XThe Reading Text File dialog box contains options for importing text files. File menu > Import > File Dialog box where you specify a graphics, text, or QuickTime movie file to import into your document. Import File 9Specifies the name of the file to import. Use the scroll )list and pop-up menu to select the file. <If you specify a bitmapped image file, the Imported 6Graphic Scaling dialog box appears when you click Import. EIf you specify a text file, the Reading Text File dialog e #box appears when you click Import. Preview 2Displays a preview image of the selected file, if possible. Moreu Import by Reference .Imports a text, graphic, or QuickTime file by 4reference. Importing text by reference has the same 9effect as subscribing to a text edition. See Publish Subscribe 2A file imported by reference is not stored in the 9document. FrameMaker stores only the pathname of b -the file in the document. Whenever possible, FrameMaker stores a relative pathname (starting -from the document s folder), not an absolute *pathname (starting from the volume name). 7The text, graphic, or movie is retrieved and displayed V 0whenever you open the document or redisplay the -page on which the item appears. Importing by 0reference helps keep the size of documents to a 3minimum and can reduce the amount of time required , o to save the document. More y Copy into Document 0Copies a file into the document. You can copy a et 6movie file into a document, but only a portion of the 3movie is copied, so you need to keep a copy of the Im QuickTime file on the disk. Format 5Specifies the format of the files that appear in the o Cscroll list. To list all files that FrameMaker recognizes, choose All Available. Show All Files 8Shows all files in the current folder regardless of the file formats. Dialog box where you specify the scale of an imported image. This dialog s Xbox appears when you import an image file using the Import File dialog box. Fit in Selected ie Rectangle 1Scales the image to fit in a selected rectangle. 4Scales the image to commonly used scaling values in sc 5dots per inch (dpi). The resulting dimensions of the 2graphic appear next to each dpi setting. For best 8printed results, choose a dpi value that divides evenly th :into your printer s resolution. The larger the dpi value, !the smaller the graphic appears. Custom dpi 7Scales the image to the dpi value you type in the text J Pixel Dimensions 8Displays the width and height of the graphic in pixels. This dialog box Uappears when you import a text file using the Import File dialog box and Gwhen you subscribe to text using the Subscribe command. Merge Lines into Paragraphs 2Merges consecutive lines into a single paragraph. .Interprets a blank line as a paragraph break. Treat Each Line As va a Paragraph 6Makes each line a paragraph in the FrameMaker ,document. Use this command to import a line- 3oriented text file (such as a C program) where you !pressed Return to end each line. Convert to Table <Opens the Convert to Table dialog box where you 8convert the text file to a table. This setting does not ou ,appear when you import text by reference or y subscribe to text. If you use this command to import a graphic in a structured document, the Rgraphic will not be part of the document s structure unless you import it into an Pexisting anchored frame that is an element.
